ALUNA LINE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

GROUNDED IN COMFORT, ROOTED IN YOU ~

GROUNDED IN COMFORT, ROOTED IN YOU ~

The Ask

My team was asked to develop a professional, market-ready activewear collection, overseeing all aspects from pricing, MSRP, and delivery timelines to align with seasonal retail schedules, to finalizing production and design details for a cohesive and commercially viable launch within a team of designers and merchandisers.

About Our Project

Our brand, Aluna, is dedicated to designing garments that are both stylish and meaningful to our customers, prioritizing comfort and inclusivity for individuals with diverse needs and preferences. For our latest collection, Artemis, we drew inspiration from the Greek goddess of nature and the hunt, creating pieces that celebrate the natural world while remaining versatile and accessible. Every garment was thoughtfully designed to ensure comfort and ease for all individuals, including neurodivergent people, resulting in a nature-centered collection that blends aesthetic appeal with mindful functionality.

Meet the Team

Key Skills

The Process

  1. We developed Aluna, a nature-inspired brand focused on creating stylish, comfortable garments for all individuals. The Artemis collection emphasizes inclusivity and accessibility, thoughtfully designed to ensure ease of wear for not just neurodivergent people, but everyone, while also maintaining a cohesive, visually compelling aesthetic.

  2. We developed detailed consumer profiles for our brand, identifying key characteristics such as age, occupation, interests, and shopping behaviors. This research helped us understand why individuals would be drawn to Aluna and informed the design and marketing of our collection.

The Process

3. We created inspiration and concept mood boards to define the vision and aesthetic of our brand. These boards guided our design decisions and helped communicate the overall mood and direction of the collection.

4. Each of us created 5–6 individual sketches, which we then combined and presented to the critic. From this presentation, she selected the final eight designs that we would move forward with in the collection.

5. We refined our initial sketches, enhancing details and design elements for clarity and cohesion. From these, we created flats for every garment to accurately represent the structure and construction of each piece.

The Process

6. Next, we focused on selecting the textiles, trims, and embellishments for our collection. These choices were carefully considered to ensure each garment aligned with our brand’s aesthetic, functionality, and commitment to comfort and inclusivity, while incorporating cotton incorporated finishes and textiles.

7. Each of us created a t-shirt in CLO-3D to develop a deeper understanding of the program and 3D garment design software, after which we selected one design to continue with in our collection. My t-shirt was chosen to move forward.

The Process

8. We created detailed cost sheets for every garment in our collection to track production expenses and pricing. From there, we developed a comprehensive line sheet showcasing every garment with details like style names, colors, sizes, and pricing to serve as a central reference for production and buyers.

9. After completing the line sheet, we developed an assortment plan to strategically organize our collection by style, size, and color-way, ensuring a balanced and market-ready range of products.

10. We also created a tech package for each garment, detailing specifications, construction notes, materials, and measurements to guide accurate production and maintain consistency across the collection.

The Process

11. Next, we created a detailed marketing plan outlining strategies for promoting our brand and collection across social media, website platforms, and other channels. We also developed a comprehensive budget to allocate resources effectively for our pop up, ensuring all marketing initiatives were financially feasible and aligned with our goals. We developed mock-up and pop-up visuals, social media videos for Tiktok and Instagram, as well as an interactable website.

12. We then successfully presented our brand and collection in front of sponsors and critiques, showcasing our work and vision. Throughout the semester, we presented multiple times, using the feedback we received to continually refine and improve both our brand and collection. This iterative process strengthened our designs and ensured a polished, market-ready final presentation.

The Outcome

The outcome of our project was the successful creation of a fully developed brand, Aluna, and its nature-inspired collection, Artemis. We conceptualized and finalized sketches, selected textiles, trims, embellishments, and finishes, and produced both flats and 3D garment visuals. Beyond design, we developed a comprehensive line sheet, cost sheet, assortment plan, and marketing strategy, including budgeting, website development, and social media presence. Throughout the project, we presented our work at multiple stages, refined it based on expert critiques, and culminated in a final presentation to industry sponsors from CottonWorks, delivering a polished, market-ready collection and brand package.

Below I’ve included some of the different elements that we featured in our presentation, as well as a link to the full project.
